Details

PP is particularly resistant to impact and bending, as well as to many chemicals (e.g., acids, alkalis, solvents).

The disadvantage of polypropylene is that it is difficult to achieve adhesion to the print bed and it has a high tendency to warp, so the use of a special printing surface or adhesive layer (e.g., PP tape, BuildTak PP Sheet, insulating tape) is recommended.

Where to use it:

  • Chemical-resistant containers, covers
  • Live hinges, bendable connectors
  • Lightweight, flexible machine parts, prototypes
  • Food industry components (PP raw material is often food-safe)

Where not to use it:

  • In environments with high heat loads (melting point approx. 100–110 °C)
  • Where extreme dimensional accuracy or rigidity is required

Advantages of FilamentOn PP:

  • Very good chemical resistance
  • Flexible, impact-resistant
  • Lightweight – low-density material (approx. 0.9 g/cm³)
  • May be suitable for contact with food
  • Developed and manufactured in Hungary

Additional data:
Recommended printing parameters for conventional printers (e.g., Ender 3, Prusa i3, Anycubic Mega):
  • Head temperature: 220–240 °C
  • Bed temperature: 70–90 °C
  • Adhesive surface: PP sheet, insulating tape, BuildTak PP Sheet, adhesive layer recommended
  • Cooling: 30–50% (light airflow improves surface quality)
  • Speed: 30–60 mm/s
  • Enclosed space: recommended, draft-free environment required
Recommended printing parameters for high-speed printers (e.g., Bambulab, Voron, Prusa MK4, K1 Max):
  • Head temperature: 240–250 °C *
  • Table temperature: 80–90 °C
  • Adhesion method: dedicated surface or special adhesive only
  • Cooling: 20–40%
  • Speed: max. 100–120 mm/s, but warping must be monitored
  • Enclosed print space: recommended
*For high-speed printing, the required nozzle temperature may be higher than the maximum value indicated on the box.
