Filamenton TECH HIPS - Natural - 2,85 mm

Filaments manufactured according to the usual Herz formula are now available under the name FilamentOn! FilamentOn HiPS is an impact-resistant polystyrene that is primarily used as a support material in combination with ABS in dual-head printing, as it is soluble in limonene. However, it can also be an excellent choice as a standalone material: it is characterised by good impact resistance, easy machinability and a smooth printable surface.

Details

HiPS behaves similarly to ABS: a closed print chamber, heated bed and higher nozzle temperature are recommended. As a soluble support material, it dissolves completely within a few hours when placed in limonene after printing, leaving no trace on the final product.

Where to use it:

  • As a support material for ABS prints, removable with limonene solution
  • For impact-resistant parts (e.g. covers, models, functional objects)
  • For modelling and prototyping where post-processing is important

Where not to use:

  • In environments with high heat loads (softening point around 90–100 °C)
  • As a support material for PLA/PETG printing (poor adhesion, incompatible)

Advantages of FilamentOn HiPS:

  • Limonene-soluble support material for ABS
  • Excellent impact resistance – truly "high impact"
  • Easy to print, matt surface
  • Easy to sand, glue and paint
  • Developed and manufactured in Hungary

Recommended printing parameters for conventional printers (e.g. Prusa i3, Ender 3 + enclosed space):
  • Nozzle temperature: 230–250 °C
  • Bed temperature: 90–110 °C
  • Cooling: 0–20% (minimum airflow recommended)
  • Speed: 30–60 mm/s
  • Enclosed print chamber: highly recommended
Recommended printing parameters for high-speed printers (e.g. Bambulab X1C, Voron, Prusa MK4):
  • Head temperature: 245–260 °C *
  • Bed temperature: 100–110 °C
  • Cooling: 0–10%
  • Speed: 60–100 mm/s
  • Enclosed, heated chamber: recommended (around 40–50 °C)
* When using dual extrusion, pay attention to the temperature difference between the print heads and the active parking temperature.
